Clifden is a modern, self-sufficient, thriving town and popular tourist destination. You will get a warm welcome and chance to settle in. A Killary Tours representative will meet you to allocate bikes and give you your route pack and general information.

DAY 2

Today you will be heading to a riding centre, 4 miles south of Clifden town. Ride on the world famous Connemara Ponies in a wonderful setting. After 2 hours of riding, you will return back to town or you can go for a longer cycle. You stay in Clifden again tonight.

DAY 3

Your destination today is the village of Cleggan. This is a small fishing village, nesting at the head of Cleggan way. Cleggan is the port of departure for Inishbofin and Inishturk islands. Your shortest route is about 15km but you have the option of cycling around the Sky Road (an extra 10km), which offers wonderful views over the Ocean, Clifden Bay and the many islands that lie in it. This route also leads you past the ruin of Darcy’s Castle. You stay in Cleggan village for the next two nights.

DAY 4

Today will be an all day excursion to the island Inishbofin off the coast of Cleggan. You will leave your bikes behind you today and take the ferry from Cleggan Pier. Inishbofin is one of the most beautiful islands off the west coast. Today it has a population of about 200 people, but was chosen in 655 by St Coleman for the site of his monastery, as it was a place of tranquillity. There are wonderful walks and nice beaches. Return to Cleggan on the evening ferry from Inishbofin.

DAY 5

Leaving Cleggan your cycle will bring you to Renvyle via Moyard and Letterfrack (19km). Letterfrack is home to Connemara National Park, one of six National Parks in Ireland. The Park grounds are open all year round and the Visitor Centre is open from mid-March to mid-October.  In the Park's Visitor Centre there are 3-D exhibitions of the Connemara landscape, audio-visual show, tearoom, nature trails, and an annual summer programme. You are staying tonight in a B&B in the village of Tully/Tullycross on the Renvyle Peninsula.

Today you will cycle to the small village of Leenane overlooking Killary Fjord, the only fjord in Ireland. Your cycling route meanders along the coastline to Tullycross (23km), or alternatively you can take a route by Kylemore, passing Kylemore Abbey, home to the Benedictine Nuns, and world renowned visitor attraction with visitor centre and Victorian walled gardens (20km).Stay the next two nights in Leenane and you can have dinner in one of the village restaurants.
